In this study, the magnitude of the influence of word frequency on the change of perception of residents before and after resident competency strengthening education in villages where the rural field forum was conducted was analyzed. The results of analyzing the changes in residents’ perceptions of the village development project according to the frequency of words are as follows. It was found that talking about surrounding factors had a greater influence than individual factors of keywords. In addition, the frequency of word use had a positive effect on the resident’s perception. It was analyzed that items with high awareness of resident prior to resident competency-enhancing education had a low impact.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects experienced by cancer survivors through the forest therapy, and to provide evidence for applying the forest therapy program. Nineteen cancer survivors who participated in the forest therapy program hosted by K University were targeted, and qualitative data were collected through three focus group interviews. All interviews were recorded and transcribed and analyzed by subject-specific content analysis method. According to the research results, the attributes of forest therapy experienced by cancer survivors were ‘Escape from bondage’, ‘Time to empty and fill the mind’, ‘Healing from positive forest stimulation’, ‘Self met in a space of rest’, ‘Initiative for life’. Five themes and fifteen sub-themes of ‘recovery’ were derived. These research results revealed a healing experience of feeling comfortable and physically relaxed through communication with the forest, discovering the self, and regaining initiative in life. It can be seen that the forest therapy is helpful in overcoming the physical, emotional, and psycho-social discomforts of cancer survivors.
Due to the standardized urban development since the industrial era, many urban spaces have experienced non-placeness. Recently, although interest in urban landscape, history, and cultural elements has been increasing, landscape management and control measures are being implemented mainly in large cities due to the low status of rural areas in the country. From this point of view, this study tried to lay the foundation for basic research in related fields by classifying the characteristics and types of streetscapes located near large cities, and to suggest directions that should be considered when managing streetscapes in the future. As a result of the analysis of landscape adjectives, the village felt secluded due to the low density compared to the city street overall, but it did not have a unique image of the region. Three factors were derived through factor analysis, and preference was affected in the order of aesthetic, regularity, and uniqueness. In addition, the research site was classified into three types through cluster analysis, and it was confirmed that the differences by type were due to aesthetics and naturalness. On the other hand, the uniqueness is generally low in all regions, so it seems that fundamental countermeasures are needed.
The study is to analyze the role of highschool youth group in a rural regeneration project. The process of youth group becoming subjective in resident participation plan was classified into isolation reduction, self-awareness, perspective-taking, subjectivity practice, and opinion expression. Isolation reduction is a stage in which youth group is gradually drawn into the community from a limited society of home and school, self-awareness is a stage in which they discover their thoughts, and view perspective-taking is a stage in which they objectify themselves and surroundings through communication with other members of the region, social experiment was analyzed as a practice of subjectivity that experiences leadership guiding the local community independently, and expressing opinions is a stage of representing the region and giving responsibility for the specific issue of the implementation plan. The study is also an analysis of how residents committee, local governments, and local research institutes perform both regeneration and community revitalization in rural areas. Therefore, the analysis of the cooperative organization of these institutions was conducted simultaneously. The leadership program was effectively linked to the project of rural regeneration. Since high school students themselves are family members of the local people, the process of accepting the project is unaffected, and the feasibility of the project is also increased, such as forming a positive atmosphere for the project and easing resistance to minority opinions.
Recently, Korea aimed to increase water use efficiency by implementing integrated management according to the water management unification policy. Considering the enormous use of water resources in the agricultural sector, it is necessary to efficiently conserve water in terms of demand management by intensifying the stakeholders’ involvement and awareness campaigns. The existing agricultural water management system in Korea is based on a top-down approach by which the government agencies directly plan budgets and policies to be enforced on and implemented by farmers, with little to no involvement of farmers in the decision-making process. However, this process has hindered the desired water resources management and the water conservation goal at the field level. Moreover, the limited research on water governance operations focusing on agricultural water creates a knowledge gap, particularly in Korea. Thus, it is necessary to investigate water governance cases with successful implementations in agricultural and rural areas to identify the factors applicable to domestic governance in Korea. In addition, a more systematic governance model should be established by identifying the subjectivity of the stakeholders’ involvement in agricultural water governance. Therefore, this study proposed a new bottom-up model for agricultural water governance, which aims to raise the problem of autonomous water governance while promoting stakeholders’ voluntary participation in agricultural water management and reflecting farmers’ involvement in the decision-making process. Moreover, if agricultural water governance is expanded nationwide by reflecting agricultural and water resource policies in the future, it is believed that positive effects can be achieved in increasing utilization efficiency and securing sustantiality through agricultural water saving.
The Effect of Conflict Experiences of Those Who Returned to Farming and Country Affected the Relation with Residents, Satisfaction of Movement and Community Participation Rate - The Case of Returned to Farming and Country of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do -
This study was conducted to understand how the conflict experiences of those who returned to farming and country affected the relation with residents, satisfaction of movement, and participation rate in the community with 961 subjects that returned to farming and country in Uiryeong-gun. The study results are as follows. First, 15.6% of them experienced the conflicts with original residents. Second, there were differences in experiencing conflicts by the type of movement. Those who returned to farming and country from urban areas showed more experiences of conflicts with original residents than those from Uiryeong or rural areas. Therefore, it is necessary to educate those from urban areas on the detailed conflict cases and countermeasures against the conflicts. Third, those who returned to farming and country with conflict experiences showed more negative perception on the relation with residents, and lower satisfaction level on their returning. Fourth, negative correlation was found between conflict experiences and relation with residents, demonstrating lower satisfaction on the returning and participation in the community as they perceived the relation with residents more negatively. These study results can be utilized as the basic data to establish the future policies on the supports for settlement of returning to farming and country.
Recently, social conflicts have intensified, and a diverse society is to the fore as a solution to social problems. In rural areas, the transition to a diverse society progressed due to population outflow, changes in the agricultural labor force, and an increase in multicultural families. In this study, regional social diversity in Gyeongsangnam province was measured using the neighborhood diversity index and the Simpson index. In addition, the relationship with the regional economy at the county level and township level was analyzed. As a result, it was found that the Gun regions have higher social diversity than the Si regions. and the city area showed a larger index value for residential segregation.
This study was attempted to systematically analysis the characteristics and effects of studies that applied animal assisted therapy to elementary students. Literature searches were conducted in 4 domestic academic databases(RISS, KISS, ScienceON, KMBASE). The characteristics of selected 26 studies were individually analyzed and described by publication year, research method, subject characteristics, intervention characteristics, and outcome variables, and the characteristics of the study were systematically summarized. The effect of the assisted therapy was divided into psychological-emotional effect, interpersonal effect, and other effect. Most of the psychological-emotional indicators and interpersonal relationship indicators were found to be effective, and inconsistent results were found for some indicators. It is expected that it can be used as a useful data when conducting assisted therapy studies targeting elementary school students in the future.
This study attempted to suggest the factors that facilities that aim to exchange urban-rural coexistence base spaces with urban-rural areas should have. In order to derive factors, 15 literatures preceded by similar studies were investigated, and systematic classification was attempted. Finally, the factors for activating urban and rural base facilities were organized into 3 categories, 9 sectors, and 30 activation factors. The three major categories consisted of resources and facilities, content and programs, operational status. As a result of the AHP survey, in the survey area, which is a categories, resources and facilities composed of hardware factors originally possessed by the facility showed the highest score of 48.9. In the sectors, the convenience of facility use was 25.7 points, and the rich state of tangible and intangible resources was 13.3 points in order. In the sectors, income from paid experience programs at facilities was 8.3 points, physical accessibility to facilities was 8.2 points, and the type of areas where the facilities were located was 7.7 points in order. It showed high importance in the order of resources and facilities composed of hardware factors, content and programs composed of software factors, and manpower and operation composed of humanware factors. In general, it was shown that the physical factors of the place when using urban and rural base facilities were judged as the main factors.
Korea’s rapid urbanization caused problems, such as destruction of the rural environment, loss of traditional culture and dissolution of communities, as the continuous outflow of the population from rural areas, aging and consequent labor shortages and deterioration of the living environment were connected like a vicious cycle. In order to solve the problems of rural areas and overcome their vulnerabilities, the ultimate goal is to find a way to reintroduce the population to the rural areas. In order to be reborn as a space with rural characteristics and pluralistic functions and various potentials in a space under threat of underdevelopment and extinction, the pushing factor from rural areas is improved, and the population inflow factor to the rural areas is improved to enhance rural attractiveness, focusing on creativity among the 4Cs of New Ruralism: Conservation, Cultivation, Community, Creativity. A case study of ‘Creative space in rural areas’ was studied and considered. In-depth interviews were conducted with four key stakeholders, and the research results were analyzed focusing on the grounded theory method to draw implications from the background of Gurye Natural Dream Park, characteristics that can be viewed as creative spaces, and examples of creative space creation in rural areas. The ‘Creative space in rural areas’ is a space that can solve the current issues and problems of rural areas. In the case of Gurye Natural Dream Park, the young population of Gurye is increasing through job creation, provision of living and cultural service facilities, and improvement of the education and medical environment. In this study, the existing rural problem-solving process in this process was viewed as creativity in rural areas.
